About Raw Mango sambar recipe – Raw Mango sambar is delicious and flavorful sambar, similar to any sambar we make. Raw mango adds sourness to the dish. In mango season we frequently make this sambar. This goes well with rice, dosa or idly.

Using raw mango we can make may dishes like, mango rice, mango dal, mango pachadi etc.

Mango sambar recipe – Step by step procedure

1. First cook some dal and mash it, keep it aside. Meanwhile cut the vegetables needed.

2. Heat some oil in a pan, add mustard sees and let it splutter. Add onion shallots, curry leaves and let it fry for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato and cook it until it softens.

3. Add the vegetables and mix well. Add some water to the veggies and let it cook.

4. Once the veggies are half cooked add turmeric powder, asafetida, coriander powder and red chilli powder. Mix it well and add the cooked and mashed dal to it.

5. Cook it until the veggies are done. Add the mango pieces to the sambar cook it until the mango softens.

6. Once the mango pieces are cooked, add some coriander leaves. Delicious mango sambar is ready.

Tips

  1. Add the mango once the veggies are cooked or else mango resists the cooking of the vegetables.
  2. Check the sourness of the mango, add accordingly based on the sourness. I have used half of the mango here.

Ingredients

  • 100 grams Toor dal
  • Raw mango
  • 2 nos. Drumsticks
  • 1 no. Radish
  • 8 to 10 onion shallots
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp. Red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp. Coriander seed powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • few curry leaves
  • coriander leaves
  • Asafetida (hing)
