Jump to RecipeAbout jonna rotti recipe – Jonna rotti is nothing but roti’s made using jowar flour. In English it is called as sorghum, jonnalu in telugu and jowar in hindi, sollam in tamil. People make these roti’s all over India in their own way. Based on regions and cultures the preparation varies.
Sorghum is rich in a variety of nutrients. It includes B vitamins, which play an essential role in metabolism, neural development, and skin and hair health. They are rich in fiber and hence they promote gut health and weight management. Sorghum also have rich protein content. Sorghum is naturally gluten-free, making it a good option if youβre avoiding gluten.
We can use whole grains to make pulao’s, upma etc., and flour to make roti’s. Add the grains to a heated pan and watch them pop like popcorn. Add seasonings for extra flavor.
Jonna rotti or Jowar roti recipe – Procedure
1. Take some jowar flour into a bowl, add some salt and mix it well.
2. Add some onion, green chilli’s, roughly chopped curry leaves and drumstick leaves and mix it well.
3. Add hot water into the water and mix it well. Knead the dough nicely for 5 to 7 minutes and make it into a ball.
4. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and rest it for an hour.
5. After an hour, remove the cloth and make the dough into small balls.
6. Take one ball, using hand spread it thinly like a roti.
7. Heat dosa pan, apply oil and roast the roti o n both sides. It takes 2 minutes for a roti to roast.
8. Tasty and healthy jonna rotti is ready. Serve it with raita or dal.
Notes
- Have a wet cloth and spread the roti on it so that we can remove it easily.
- You can use any green leaf in place of drumstick leaves. They add extra flavor to the roti.
